Vital Tested: Punk Rope
Go back to school with this PE-inspired fitness class.
Always up for self-improvement, we recently enrolled in a continuing education class: Tim Haft's Punk Rope, a workout that picks up where P.E. left off.
The fast-paced hour-long session flies by. Expect to jump rope 'til your arms and legs ache and compete in madcap relays. Each week, the class has a different theme (from
"Super Heroes" to "Bastille Day"), plus a custom playlist. We were there for "Cops and Robbers" and tunes included the I Fought the Law, Jailhouse Rock, and Police and Thieves. (Get the full playlist on Punk Rope's Facebook page.)
Make the grade every Monday and Wednesday when class is in session at the 14th St. Y--or find other classes around the city here, like Sunday's Coney Island workout.
Extra credit: This Saturday, June 27, you can stop by Bushwick Country Club for miniature golf and 2-for-1 drinks in honor of Punk Rope's 5th birthday. Email Tim to RSVP.
