Yep, scents are are known to trigger memories--and that's the inspiration behind Mémoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery.

Until recently, you could only find Mémoire Liquide at STUDIO BEAUTYMIX at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, but the customized fragrance line has set up shop at Bloomingdale's 59th Street. An expert is on hand to help you sort through over 75 alcohol-free, natural scents and create a blend that might just bring back your past. 

The scents can be added to a body lotion ($40), body wash ($35), perfume essence ($65), or eau de parfum spray ($75). (You can also get a trio of fragrances--pictured--for $90.)

Our tester traveled to France by layering Ambre Ancien with Nudité Absolue. Her other favorite: Coriander Calm combined with Nudité Absolue, which has the soothing smell of a luxe spa.
