New Year, Part II
Fire up your year and bring good luck with these fun finds.
Already fallen off the wagon with your New Year's resolutions? Well now is your chance to start over...on the dragon wagon! Monday kicks off the Chinese New Year, and this year's animal is the lucky, mythical beast.
So whether your resolutions are to stay fit, eat well or find good fortune, here are some of our favorite ways to ring in the new New Year:
- Sweat: Burn major calories with an empowering, kick-butt, martial-arts inspired workout. Expect to be sore the next day in all the right places.
- Predict: Stop by this fortune-telling Buddha at 64 Mott St. (the Eastern States Buddhist Temple) for a New Year's forecast.
- See: Ward off evil spirits with the Firecracker Ceremony and Cultural Festival on Monday afternoon (details here) or watch the spectacular Lunar New Year Parade on the 29th.
- Wear: Rumor has it that red underwear brings protection. Our pick: this seamless undie in red.
- Eat: While it doesn't serve Chinese cuisine, this appropriately-named East Village joint is on theme.
