Girl Power
Running like a girl is a good thing.
Love to run? Think you have enough spirit to keep a newbie going when the going gets tough?
Make it happen this weekend, when you can become a cheerleader for a young runner (and sneak in a workout of your own)! The NYC division of the non-profit org Girls on the Run (GOTR) is holding its fall season 5K and they need your help. GOTR uses running to teach self-esteem skills and healthy habits to eight- to 12-year-old girls--and you can be their role model. Our NY editor, who's volunteered for GOTR, says it's incredibly inspiring.
Lace up this Saturday, December 10, at Asphalt Green one of two ways: sign up to get paired with a girl as her running buddy (through Wednesday) or run in support as a general runner. All fees go toward covering the event and funding additional GOTR programs.
Way to build a track record.
