As the founder of Vital Dish (no relation!), hip health counselor Danielle Santoro can give any kitchen a healthy makeover. We got her fall food essentials:

  • Be a morning gal: "Head over to the Union Square Greenmarket on Monday, Wednesday or Friday--get there early so you have the best produce to choose from."
  • Eat seasonally: "During fall, there are more hardy vegetables available, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, parsnips and turnips, all of which are great for keeping us grounded. Eating seasonally supports your body in adapting to the changes each season bears. Eating food out of season can make you more susceptible to colds, flus and other illnesses."
  • Turn up the heat: "During colder months, add heat to your food by roasting or baking your veggies. Here's a root vegetable recipe I like to make."

It's the food we're falling for.
