Meet Healthy About Towner Kelly Hogan!

Vital Juice is hitting the streets to meet local living-well trendsetters. Watch out--you could be next!

What makes an office run better? If it's the Vital Juice office, it's running! Since Team VJ ran a 10K together this past weekend, we've been keeping up the practice, doing laps in Central Park--which is where we found Kelly Hogan. The marathoner, public relation gal, part-time grad student and blogger behind Meals for Miles is training for the ING NYC Marathon on November 6. We asked, "What's are your race day secrets?"

Take a nap. Well, fake one. "Yawn right before the gun goes off--it helps relax you," says Hogan. Here's what else it might do.

Clear the system. "Develop a porta potty strategy. Mine is basically to fit in as many visits as possible before lining up in the corral." Check out these other blush-worthy moments.

Strip down. "Wear layers of throwaway sweats to the starting area, especially if the wait to your starting time is a while (like for the NYC Marathon!). Starting a marathon when you're freezing is no fun." Stock up on cheap sweats here.

Cook your favorite. "I like to eat something familiar the night before. Luckily, the NYC Marathon is in my backyard so I can cook for myself. I like quinoa, some grilled chicken and veggies." Check out this night-before recipe.
