Torso Twist

Over time, this exercise will improve overall upper body mobility.

  1. Sit back on your knees and place hands on floor about one foot in front of knees. Your torso should be angled about 45 degrees forward.
  2. Leaving the left palm firmly on the floor, place right hand behind head and rotate chest to bring right elbow to meet left elbow (Picture 1 above).
  3. Rotate chest to the right and try to point your right elbow towards the ceiling (Picture 2 above).
  4. Repeat 6-8 times, then switch to the left side, each time feeling the twist in your mid- to upper back. Lower back should remain stable and hips and seat should be fixed in place on top of your heels.
