Vital Tested: Rich Barretta Private Training

Send to a friend

Our New York editor shapes up with a no pain, no gain workout.

Rich Barretta (of the eponymous Rich Barretta Private Training) is less of a trainer and more of an artist. The former Mr. America literally sculpts his clients' bodies with target training. In search of lithe, Gisele-like legs (a girl can dream), our New York editor put herself in Barretta's hands. Here's the plan:

Steady yourself. To tone thighs and backside, Barretta lead us through a series of exercises on a Bosu ball. Try standing with one foot on the flat side of the ball while keeping your balance.

Go for the burn. Barretta uses lactic acid training to torch body fat. The method involves short rests in between exercises that tucker out muscles.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Forget what you learned in therapy. Avoidance is good, at least when it comes to your diet. Instead of forbidding foods, Barretta recommends avoiding, as in avoid alcohol, processed foods and carbs after 6PM.

According to Barretta, our NY editor needs just six weeks to reach her leggy goals. Become a Vital Juice fan on Facebook to find out how she fares.
