Dear Heart Pumpin' in LA,

You're in luck! There's a new cardio craze that's gaining recognition from London to Tokyo, and it turns out it's based right in Culver City. Italian creator/instructor Tatiana Tamai (pictured above) teaches Booiaka (BOO-yakka). Every class features a new, funky and spirit-lifting routine that gives a taste of Reggaeton, Jamaican, Hip-Hop and Brazilian dance styles. And regardless of your age, size, or dance background (or lack thereof), Tamai insists that you'll burn as many as 700 calories in every sweat-soaked session. Click here to take a look.

We checked it out and saw many happy, sweaty faces in the studio where Tamai blasts hip-bumpin' tunes. Assured that Booiaka is about the way you move and not about precise choreography, we relaxed and enjoyed learning the steps which were fun, easy-to-follow and repeated often. By the end of our one-hour class, the diverse group could have easily been shooting a music video.
