Experiencing The Vajacial

Send to a friend
Stript has style.

Here's the full Monty on the Vajacial at Stript Wax Bar.

Our tester's experience:

I arrive at Stript Wax Bar, which looks like it could have been designed by the scene director for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. The receptionist sits at a giant white, cushioned, cylindrical desk dotted with crystals; fleur de lis-type symbols line the walls; a purple velvet couch sports zebra and purple pillows reading "Ready. Set. Smooth."

I'm led into a room with a tall white bed--much like a massage bed--covered with a black sheet. A bright vanity lamp lights up the silver walls.

The vajacialist--I'm having my treatment done by owner Katherine Goldman--waits outside as I disrobe from the waist down and recline, placing a small towel over my nether regions.

Katherine returns and lets me know I can put my knees together and put my legs down. It's a much less intrusive treatment than I had anticipated. Putting on her gloves, Katherine explains each step of the process, holding up the products for me to examine.

With two fingers, she swabs hygienic cleanser on the upper area and then removes it with warm water and cotton pads. She uses very light strokes so this never feels awkward or invasive.

Next, she works "a-peel" into my skin for about a minute and allows it to sit for five more before removing it with warm water and cotton pads. The peel doesn't sting like traditional peels and my skin looks noticeably shiny after it is removed.

With tweezers, Katherine first works ingrown hairs out of their follicles before extracting; this makes the actual pluck much less painful. I only have about 20 in-growns to extract, but this process can take anywhere from five to thirty minutes depending on the number of ingrowns.

After extraction, a hazel toner is applied to soothe the skin.

Katherine mixes up a cooling cucumber mask in a bowl, smooths it across my skin and allows it to sit for about five minutes until it's dry. The mask comes up swiftly in one peel.

The Vajacial finishes up with a lightening cream to calm any irritations the skin might have endured (I experienced no irritation).

After the cream is applied, I'm free to put my pants back on and go on with my day...feeling secretly sexy, the way you do when you're wearing lace underwear and no one knows it but you.
