To find some of LA's greatest treasures, you'd have to ask someone in the know...someone like Sienna Miller, for instance, or Niecy Nash. Their hot bod hideaway is a Pilates powerhouse called Studio Soma, and we managed to sneak in a workout to see what it's all about.

Named after the Greek word for "body," Soma is tucked stealthily behind Train on La Cienega. We tested its signature workout, SomaSculpt. Created and taught by owner Thalia Thomas and her team, SomaSculpt is not for the faint of heart, but results are serious—and swift!

Set to upbeat music, the hybrid workout melds all the most strenuous elements of Pilates, ballet, and strength training. Oh, and did we mention the moves are all done atop a BOSU? (Check out these two moves with before/after pics and see for yourself.) Thanks to a fast-paced flurry of squats, lifts, and crunches, you'll burn at least 400 calories during the 55-minute class. Other body benefits: improved flexibility, balance and core strength.

It does a soma good.
