Eat Me Cookies have a secret ingredient.

You'll never guess what's in these rich, delicious cookies.

When we discovered rich, sweet, locally-made cookies at the Melrose Place Farmers' Market, all we thought was yum. But some EatMe Cookies have a bonus inside: an ingredient you'd never expect (hint: it's third on this list).

The no-guilt treats are also vegan, gluten-free, mostly organic, and contain no added oil. Our taster loved The Sarah Brown, a chewy, dense cookie packed with a generous helping of vegan chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter, plus flaxseed. Other tasty picks: The Mary Cranberry, baked with organic cranberries and currants, and My Cherry Amore, with whole grain spelt, cherries, chocolate chips and almonds.

Order your cookies online here, or buy them at Deluca's at The Americana at Brand in Glendale and Follow Your Heart in Canoga Park. You can also find EatMe Cookies on Saturdays at GiGi's Farmers' Market (at The Americana), and Sundays at the Melrose Place Farmers' Market.

Talk about a sweet surprise.
