Why brave the crowds at Santa Monica Place?

The much-hyped Santa Monica Place has finally opened. (During its inaugural weekend, shoppers showed up by the thousands to take advantage of these ongoing deals.)

But we're not in it for the free hem from 7 for All Mankind. Instead, we'll be making a beeline to Bloomingdale's second floor for the frozen yogurt from Forty Carrots café. 

Fans on the opposite coast swear by the yogurt's smooth, creamy texture. (See what NY'ers are saying here.) The original flavor is tart and tangy--thanks to active yogurt cultures--and tastes best topped with wildflower honey.

Other options include coffee and chocolate, and you can choose from more good-for-you add-ons like chocolate-covered goji berries, granola or wheat germ.

Who knew a trip to the mall could be so cultured?
