Are you a wood type? Perhaps you're more metal...or fire. According to traditional Chinese medicine, your elemental type can tell you what your body needs. We learned ours at Chuan Body + Soul, the exotic, new Chinese-themed section of The Langham Spa in Pasadena. How it works:

Contemplate. You'll enter the "Contemplation Room" and fill out this questionnaire. 

Breathe. Based on your results, you'll receive a custom, meditative breath exercise. Get yours here.

Be treated. Your spa treatment will be infused with essential oils chosen especially for your element (we're "fire"). We had the "Muddy Elements" wrap, which includes a lengthy scrub, hot mud wrap and scalp massage.

Dream. After the treatment, you'll be led to the "dream" room, where you'll be served a tea selected for your type.

We left energized..and in our element.
