The Thousand-Dollar Woman

Send to a friend
La Prairie's platinum cream is as pricey as it looks.

This will make you feel like a thousand bucks.

What's the most you'd pay for a skin cream? Fifty dollars? A hundred?

We went to The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa by La Prairie to test new products. One item demanded attention: a lucite canister etched with a diamond shape. The 1.7-ounce cream inside was steel-gray.

"That's the Cellular Cream Platinum Rare," the spa manager said. We were given a mini spatula with a pea-sized amount on it, then told to touch (not rub) it over the face. "Otherwise, you're rubbing it off," the manager said. (We tried this technique later with other creams and liked the results.)

A dab felt surprisingly heavy, but vanished quickly. We looked in the mirror to see plump, glowing skin. Fine lines even seemed diminished. The price? One thousand dollars.

We could still feel it after cleansing, a night of sleep and a hot shower. But...a thousand bucks? See some reactions and reviews here.

The spa manager has invited Vital Juicers to test the cream in person (no charge; visit the spa and ask to try it).

Since you deserve a metal.
