Dance Your @ss Off
We learned how to get a Brazilian bottom at this irresistible dance class.
We're gonna rock down to Electric Avenue, then make our bottoms higher.
At the Electric Lodge, a solar-powered dance and visual arts center, we tried out Kimberly Miguel Mullen's AfroCaribe dance workout (that's Mullen in the pic), an hour-and-a-half African-Caribbean-Brazilian fusion that left us grinning, sweating, and understanding why Carnivale dancers have such amazing behinds. The hot body-making moves:
Low, funky steps. We swayed our hips to the sound of live conga players (including one from Stevie Wonder's band!), holding a semi-squat all the time.
Struts and turns. Though we came in as beginners, by the middle of class, we were dancing and twirling across the floor, copying moves from Carnivale parade dancers.
Pure joy. Mullen doesn't stop smiling and encouraging the group with every step, making sure everyone is having a blast. We finished the class completely soaked but bursting with energy.
If you keep it up, you can reward yourself with a killer Brazilian bikini designed by Mullen: it shows off a dance-toned tush.
You could say it's your booty's calling.
