Around the country, DJs are the latest must-have fitness accessory. From apartment rooftops to alternative workout programs to DJ'ed gym classes, exercisers are flocking to mix things up with a turntable.
No DJ? No problem! Gather some pals and create the vibe yourself:
The music: Score free playlists from top fitness mix-masters, like the new Motion Traxx podcast from Deekron (aka 'The Fitness DJ'), and mixes from Derek Beres, a DJ and Equinox instructor.
The setting: A wide, open space (like a rooftop or studio) is ideal, but any large room with dimmed lighting works. If exercising outdoors, dusk is the best time.
The workout: Blast the music as you do a fast-paced home workout (try two sets of this download from David Kirsch) or follow a fun dance-themed DVD.
