Dear Resolutions,
Wow, you're demanding – no wonder people are turned off. Try these toned-down techniques and they'll keep you in mind all through '09:
Before: Be happier!
After: Arrange a regular get-together with favorite pals, aim for one more nice gesture a week ($5 to charity, for instance) and start writing down things you're grateful for.
Before: Be more confident!
After: Go through your closet and give away anything that makes you feel bad and start improving your posture (not good with DIY fixes? Try this gadget).
Before: Lose weight!
After: Start keeping a food journal, try to plan your meals in advance and learn what healthy portions look like.
Before: Relax!
After: Practice breathing through your nose (it's more calming), start scheduling sleep like an important meeting and reduce your caffeine habit little by little.
Before: Work out every day!
After: Designate two go-to workouts (one indoors, one outdoors), start penciling in exercise on the calendar and buy/download heart-pounding music.
