Happiness Week: The Pursuit of Happiness
With the sun out of sight and colder temps setting in, it's hard to have a cheery disposition. Follow these tips to snap out of your winter slump:
Acupuncturist Aimee E.Raupp recommends loading up on ocean food like mineral and vitamin-rich fish and seaweed?they nourish the endocrine system, and skin, hair and nails, too. (“Sea” more of our tips.)
It's important to consume vitamin D (found in ample supply in cod liver oil) during the winter months when sun exposure is low. Aimee also suggests a mood-boosting supplement like New Chapter's Holy Basil (known as the “Mother Medicine of Nature” in the Ayurvedic tradition).
Essential oils expert Noelle Katai likes citrus oils (sweet orange, lemon, grapefruit), or naturally anti-depressant bergamot, geranium and clary sage to lift spirits. We spritz rubyblaise's ready-made Happy Mist (water, bergamot, grapefruit) to help us combat SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
We also love checking The Happiness Project for inspiration?where one woman chronicles her year test-driving every tip and trick in her pursuit of happiness.
How do you turn frowns upside down? Let us know and we'll share the “wellth” with VJD readers!
