Ask David Kirsch: Firm Upper Arms
“Help me, David! I've been working on toning my body, but I can't seem to reduce the fat on my arms, particularly on the back. I've tried using dumbbells but my arms just get bigger. My goal is to have arms like Heidi Klum or Gwyneth Paltrow. What can I do?” - Neetu
According to David Kirsch, you're not alone, so here's how to get the arms of a sinewy dancer?not a football player:
Target the right muscles: To reach that area, you need to work with a high number of repetitions using a low weight (2-4 lbs. to start) and stick to moves that focus on the small muscle fibers in the triceps. (Stay tuned for the moves, below)
Don't get weighed down: Beware of traditional weight-lifting with heavy weights (over 10 lb), which can tear your muscles.
Combine forces: Cardio-sculpting exercises will bring you long, firm muscles by conditioning while incinerating fat at the same time.
Try it out by downloading David's 30-minute routine and doing it 4-5 times per week. (Client Heidi Klum did only these moves to get back her body, post-baby.)
