I think I can, I think I can!

The Little Engine That Could was so right ? optimism works! At least that's the premise behind an emerging workout: IntenSati (Inten = intention, Sati = Hindu for mindfulness).

Founder Patricia Moreno espouses the importance of positive thinking (and speaking) while exercising. Participants learn to train their minds (and bodies) if they want to get the best physical results possible. (Did she read The Secret, too?!)

While performing martial arts-style punching, practitioners repeatedly exclaim: “I am strong now.” During other exercises, phrases like “I am ready, willing and able now” and “I believe I will succeed” are thought and expressed in an effort to amplify the workout.

Next time you exercise, give it a try ... although you might feel more at ease with a group: Take Patricia's classes at an NY-area Equinox, or find an IntenSati instructor near you. The DVDs make for a positive, at-home experience.
