The best way to get over your disgust for a specific thing is to expose yourself to it.

TRUE. Therapists use a technique called "systematic desensitization" to help people overcome their phobias, and it's safe to try at home. If you're disgusted by snakes, look at a drawing of a snake while thinking calm thoughts. When you can look at the illustrations without wincing, move on to photographs and stare at them until you can look at them without flinching. Then, bring a friend with you to a place where you know you'll see snakes and have a relaxation mantra in your head to repeat. When you come face to face with the real thing, ask yourself why you're disgusted by it.
