Workout of the Month: Figure 4

Send to a friend
Do this for a ballet bod.

Try New York's hottest barre class at home.

When we were little, we wanted to be ballerinas. And even though we're all grown up, we still covet the ballet body.

So we went straight to former pro ballet dancer Kate Albarelli, creator of Pure Yoga's Figure 4 class. The workout combines ballet, Pilates, yoga and free weights to sculpt long, lean and graceful muscles. (Watch the moves here.) The class gets its name from the classic ballet stretch where dancers cross one ankle over the opposite knee and bend forward, creating a "four" with the legs. The number also signifies the four body parts the workout targets: abs, arms, glutes and thighs.

During class, our muscles were quaking the entire time. We were pleasantly sore in all the right places the next day.

Watch the exclusive workout here. (No barre required.)

Going to NY? Check out the Figure 4 class schedule here.

Raise the barre.
