Can hypnosis really help you sleep better, stop cravings and stomp out stress?

We're easily distracted. We can't sit still long enough to meditate, and sometimes, we mentally multitask during yoga. (Did we turn off the coffeemaker? What time does the dry cleaner close again?)

So when we heard that Hyp-Yoga, a blend of yoga and hypnosis, was the latest yoga hybrid sweeping the country, we figured: That probably won't work on us.

But after a hectic week of jet lag and deadlines, we were willing to try anything. We tuned in to the Learning to Flow: Stress Prevention audio class and started with 10 minutes of gentle yoga poses. After our muscles were stretched, we settled in for 10 minutes of guided relaxation. We weren't sure if we were actually hypnotized, but we fell into a deep sleep before the session was over.

Hyp-Yoga also offers specialized courses on putting a stop to emotional eating, living in the moment, boosting energy and quitting smoking. Classes are being taught in nine states.
