Celiac Chick

An NYC blogger dishes.

We caught up with Kelly Courson, co-founder of the CeliacChicks blog, "a guide to a hip and healthy gluten-free lifestyle." Here are her tips for where to dine, unwind, and more:

  • Lilli and Loo

    Rock out.

"I'm always in the mood for the rock shrimp tempura from Lilli and Loo. (The restaurant offers a ton of gluten-free options.) They have gluten-free dumplings and their fresh Saigon rolls are so tasty." 792 Lexington Ave., (212) 421-7800, MAP

  • Forest Park

    Pine away.

"Forest Park in Forest Hills, Queens, is gorgeous with extensive hiking and horse trails, horse rentals nearby, and it even has a pine forest!  The Oregon tree hugger in me was so excited when I discovered this green oasis." Directions

  • JD at Dramatics NYC

    Make the cut.

"I love my hairstylist JD (pictured) at Dramatics NYC on 57th Street. I've been going to him for about nine years. He's amazing, and the price--about $60--is crazy cheap for a haircut and style in the city." 352 W. 57th St., (212) 586-1035, MAP

  • Coconut Sugar

    Swap the sweet stuff.

"I'm obsessed with my new find--coconut sugar. It tastes and smells like brown sugar, but like agave nectar it's on the low end of the glycemic index." Look for it at your local health food store, or order online.

    We're sweet on these ideas.
