What's trending in LA?

Shira Lazar

A digital maven shares her weekend plans.

As Host and Executive Producer of What's Trending, a weekly live interactive talk show, Shira Lazar knows what's in and what's out in the world of new media. We asked how she spends an analog weekend in LA:

  • It's tea-licious.

    Tea up.

Lazar likes to start her day at Gjelina Take Away on Abbot Kinney. "It's one of the best restaurants in LA right now. They have amazing side salads, great iced tea, and great homemade granola with yogurt and fruit."

  • I'm being followed by a moon shadow.

    Get physical.

Lazar spends an active day at the beach, jogging along the Venice canals, riding her bike to SaMo, or playing beach volleyball. Ending the day at Moonshadows in Malibu "is a ton of fun because there's a DJ outside and a great happy hour."

  • Have you brunched here?

    Feel the vibe.

Heading to the eastside for brunch is a nice change of scene for the beach-based Lazar. Little Dom's in Los Feliz has "great mimosa specials, really good egg dishes and incredible hash browns. It's a really great vibe."

  • Get Figgy with it.

    Eat out.

Another favorite eastside brunch spot is Figaro Bistrot on Vermont, where Lazar likes to dine outside. "They have good egg dishes, sides and salads. It feels very New York."

  • Get cosmic.

    Spot a star.

While on the eastside, Lazar hikes through Griffith Park and up to the Observatory. "It's a nice getaway," she says, with "beautiful views of LA...you feel like you're on top of the world."
