Heather Crosby
This rising star of conscious cuisine shares her healthy secrets.
We think Heather Crosby's hip recipe site YumUniverse and the 24 Carrot Supper Club, an underground vegan and gluten-free dinner party she throws with a Top Chef, make her the coolest "clean eating" advocate in Chicago. Her healthy weekend plans:
-
Step into the ring.
"I spend a lot of time at LA Boxing in the South Loop. There are a couple of instructors, like Mike Chalmers, that run classes like an actual boxing match where you'll have rounds, and in between, you do things like jumping jacks and sit-ups. It's really intense."

Slide one in.
"I really like MANA because it's a vegetarian restaurant that doesn't use fake meat. They use whole food ingredients, and everything tastes incredible. The MANA slider is out of this world and I love that I'm eating mushrooms and brown rice and not some processed patty."

Hoop to it.
"I've been hooping for seven or eight years now. It's a little spiritual and a very expansive way to move your body and clear your mind. I have some fun ideas for hooping workshops and fusion classes that I'll probably offer in the spring." Photo: Marta Sasinowska

Feed the soul.
"Creating new recipes and experimenting in the kitchen is a lot of fun for me. I like making the sweet potato, kale and black quinoa cakes for dinner and I make the red quinoa tacos quite a bit."
